Perrett Building, Wanganui, 1918
Denis Fortune Collection.
Architects: Crichton & McKay

The Corner of Victoria Ave & Maria Place was the site of a butcher shop owned by Edwin Perrett since 1891, it was notable for a steam powered sausage machine. His will (dated 1 December 1912) stated that his his land and business premises in the centre of Wanganui were not to be sold but retained as an investment to provide income to his descendants. The floor plans indicate the building was intended to comprise retail space on all three floors. Currently (2008) Michael Hill Jeweller is the ground floor tenant.
